BMU@sitegroup.comBand Mine Underground is an AI-powered music discovery app. You type a "seed" — an artist name, genre, city, decade, or vibe — and the app surfaces a curated list of bands and artists you've likely never heard of. Each result comes with context about the artist, their top tracks, and genre tags so you can dig deeper.
Yes — completely free. There are no subscriptions, no in-app purchases, and no paywalls. The only currency in the app is Digs, which you earn for free every day and by watching optional short ads.
Spotify is optional but highly recommended. Without it, you can still discover artists, browse results, and use search, favorites, ratings, and playlists within the app. With Spotify connected, you can open artists directly in Spotify, save tracks, follow artists, and export playlists to your Spotify library.
Tap the settings icon in the top right of the Discover screen, then tap Connect Spotify. You'll be taken through Spotify's standard OAuth login — Band Mine Underground never sees your Spotify password. You can disconnect at any time from the same settings screen.
Digs are your discovery currency. Each time you want to generate a new round of AI-curated artist recommendations, you spend one Dig. Think of them as the reason to come back daily — they keep discovery intentional rather than overwhelming.
Three ways:
No — Digs never expire. They accumulate in your stash up to a maximum of 5. If your stash is already full, the daily refill won't add more until you use some.
Occasionally ads fail to load due to poor network connectivity or ad inventory being temporarily unavailable. If this happens, close and reopen the ad prompt and try again. If Digs still don't appear after the ad completes, force-quit the app and reopen it — your balance is stored locally and should restore. If the issue persists, email us.
When you plant a seed, the app sends it to an AI model that's been tuned for music knowledge. The model generates a curated list of real artists that match the spirit of your seed, along with contextual information: their origin, era, a short biography, why they were selected, their top tracks, and genre tags. Results vary each time you use the same seed, so repeated digs always surface something new.
Almost anything works. Some seeds that tend to produce great results:
The more specific and evocative the seed, the more surprising and accurate the results.
Yes. Every dig you run is saved to your Library automatically. You can browse all your past digs from the Library tab, search across everything in them, and revisit any artist or track at any time.
Yes. Open a dig from the Library tab and use the overflow menu (⋯) to remove it. Deleting a dig removes all the artists and tracks it surfaced from your library search results, but your favorites and ratings for individual artists are preserved separately.
Your favorites, ratings, digs, playlists, and settings are stored locally on your device. They are not uploaded to any server. This means your data is private and available even when you're offline — but it also means if you uninstall the app or switch devices, that data will not transfer automatically.
We collect minimal data. The ads served by Google AdMob may use device advertising identifiers according to Google's own privacy policy. We do not collect, store, or sell your personal information. See our full Privacy Policy for details.
Go to Settings (tap the gear icon on the Discover screen) → User Settings → Disconnect Spotify. You can also revoke access directly from your Spotify account settings.
Go to Settings → Reset Data. This will clear all locally stored favorites, ratings, digs, playlists, and settings from your device. Since data is stored locally, uninstalling the app will also remove it. Email BMU@sitegroup.com if you have any questions.
Try these steps in order:
If the problem persists, email BMU@sitegroup.com with your device model and OS version and we'll investigate.
Make sure the Spotify app is installed on your device. If it is and links still don't open, try disconnecting and reconnecting your Spotify account in Settings. On some devices, you may also need to set Spotify as a default handler for its links in your device settings.
Dig counts are stored locally. If you've reinstalled the app, cleared app data through your OS settings, or switched to a new device, your balance will reset to the starting amount. Unfortunately we can't restore balances lost this way. Email us if you believe this happened due to a bug.
